Campaign ready
Webhook live
Triggered from Marketo
When a Marketo flow calls the webhook, RevSend sends the digital gift and attributes it to a RevSend user.
How it works
Marketo decides the moment. RevSend owns the campaign, the send, and the gift experience.
01
Create a digital campaign in RevSend
Name the campaign, choose gift options and value, write the headline and message, and assign it to a team. Recipients can pick from the gift options you include.
02
Create a webhook pointed at that campaign
In RevSend, open Webhook Configuration and create an inbound webhook. Select the digital campaign or campaigns it can send. Copy the webhook URL and secret; the secret is shown once.
03
Call the webhook from a Marketo flow
In Marketo, create a webhook that POSTs JSON to the RevSend URL, then add a Call Webhook step to a Smart Campaign. When the flow fires, RevSend sends the digital gift.
Senders
Send as a service account, or on behalf of a teammate
Every webhook request includes a senderEmail. RevSend uses that address to attribute the send. The email must belong to an active user in your RevSend organization.
01
Use a RevSend service account
Create a dedicated RevSend user such as gifts@yourcompany.com or marketo@yourcompany.com. Invite the user, add them to the campaign’s team, and use that email in every request. Best for always-on programs, webinar follow-up, lifecycle sends, and flows that should not depend on a specific salesperson.
02
Send on behalf of users
Pass the individual sender’s work email, such as the lead owner. The gift appears as coming from that person. That email must already belong to an active RevSend account; otherwise the webhook is rejected and the gift will not send.
Important
senderEmail is required. Use a service-account user for reliable automation. If you send on behalf of users, every possible sender must already have a RevSend account. Marketo lead-owner emails that are not in RevSend will fail.
Workflow examples
Use Marketo to flag the right moment. RevSend sends the approved digital campaign and attributes it to your service account or the teammate you specify.
Demo request
Thank every demo request
When a lead submits a demo form, Marketo calls the webhook and RevSend sends a thank-you gift while the conversation is warm.
Webinar attended
Follow up after attendance
After a contact is marked attended, send a follow-up gift or content-plus-gift campaign.
MQL or score threshold
Reward a sales-ready moment
When lead score crosses your sales-ready threshold, trigger a gift from the service account or the assigned owner.
Customer milestone
Recognize lifecycle moments
On renewal date, anniversary, or a lifecycle stage change, send a recognition gift from a lifecycle campaign.
Setup guide
Start with one digital campaign, one webhook, and one Smart Campaign. Test it, then add more programs.
01
Create a digital campaign
In RevSend, go to Campaigns and create a digital campaign. Name it for the Marketo program; set reward value; choose one or more digital gift options; write the headline and message; assign the owning team; then save.
02
Decide who the sender will be
Invite a service-account user and add them to the campaign team, or confirm every person you will send on behalf of already has a RevSend account in this organization with a matching work email.
03
Create a webhook pointed at that campaign
Open Webhook Configuration in Integrations and create a webhook. Name it, select the allowed digital campaign or campaigns, set it Active, and create it. Copy the URL and secret immediately. Store the secret securely; if lost, rotate it in RevSend and update Marketo.
Request format
POST JSON. Authenticate with X-RevSend-Secret, or HTTP Basic auth using the webhook ID as username and the secret as password.
senderEmail and recipientEmail are required. recipientName and recipientOrgName are optional. senderEmail must match an active RevSend user.
04
Create the Marketo webhook
In Marketo, go to Admin → Integration → Webhooks → New Webhook. Paste the RevSend URL, choose POST, add the JSON template with Marketo tokens, set Content-Type to application/json, and add X-RevSend-Secret. HTTP Basic auth can use the webhook ID as username and the secret as password.
05
Build a Smart Campaign flow
Create a Smart Campaign for the program. For a demo request, use Fills Out Form with your Demo Request form, then Call Webhook → RevSend — Demo Thank You. Optionally set RevSend Gift Sent = true and use qualification rules so the same person is not gifted twice.
06
Run an internal test
Use a test lead whose email you control. Confirm senderEmail is a real RevSend user, run or activate the Smart Campaign, verify a successful Marketo webhook call, and confirm the digital send in RevSend is attributed to the specified sender.
07
Review and expand
Once the test looks right, clone the pattern for webinar, MQL, and milestone programs. Reuse the same service account, or create separate webhooks per campaign for cleaner reporting.
Gift options
Offer several gift choices in one digital campaign. Recipients redeem online and can provide their details during redemption. Digital gifts can be sent quickly, including outside the United States.
